My Students
I teach a group of amazing, curious, and hardworking special education students across Kindergarten and first grade. My students have a range of disabilities, some of which include learning disabilities, physical disabilities, emotional disturbances, speech and language impairments, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Like any other class, my students' abilities and interests range across a wide spectrum.
All of my students require individual or small group attention; each day, I incorporate all of their learning styles, interests, and special education accommodations into our lessons.
Some of my students prefer visual or auditory cues for learning, while some require a more kinesthetic or tactile approach. My students come into our classroom each day with a love of school and a desire to grow as a learner.
My Project
An easel is essential to any great classroom. Luckily, I was able to inherit an easel from a seasoned teacher who would not need it this year. It has been a great tool for small group instruction in my classroom. However, unfortunately, it has begun to fall apart. It's been in our school for years, and the wear and tear has made it difficult to utilize successfully.
A new easel would allow my students to participate in small group instruction at any place in the classroom!
The best part of having a moveable easel would be that I would be able to bring it around the classroom with me, depending on which group I'm working with. My students are special education students who have varying needs; many of them require a kinesthetic, hands-on approach to learning in which they are able to move about the classroom. The moveable easel would allow them to learn virtually anywhere in the classroom.
