Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are currently learning remotely from home. We are using Google Classroom as a platform for learning. My students thankfully all have a device to engage in learning with, whether it be an iPad, DOE device, laptop, or computer!
As the year winds down, I am constantly trying to make learning more engaging for them, as these unprecedented times can bring about frustration for my kiddos.
We will get through this!
My Project
This easel will provide another platform for myself and my students to teach and learn from, and use throughout the year. From a teacher perspective, it will give me a place to work on shared writing with my students, use magnetic letter, numbers, and other magnetic tools, demonstrate or model concepts, hang charts from our strategy toolkits, and even display books. From a students perspective, it will give them a place to engage in small group activities and demonstrations, practice their skills, peer teach, and just have an overall visually pleasing and organized place to learn. This visual aspect is especially important, as I am a teacher or Special needs students as well as ELL/MLLs with IEPs.
I would use this easel during distance learning, as it would make it so much easier to model and share content with students.
Furthermore, this easel would transfer greatly into my classroom in September (or whenever we are allowed back) since the easel in my classroom currently is literally "on its last leg"! It even have sharp edges that I have been, for the time being, covering with packaging foam for safety! This easel would help me focus on teaching and my students focus on learning rather than wondering when the London Bridge will fall down!
