This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My fifth grade class is in a diverse, low income neighborhood. My students come from around the world and we celebrate our diversity while working to master the academic skills of reading, writing, and math. Our school has worked diligently to improve our students' test scores with limited resources.
Reading, writing, and learning together - in a group of 30 - is challenging. To keep everyone involved and to allow everyone to see the material we are working from, I use an easel. Well, our class easel is now a broken primary grade painting stand. I use the painting stand to balance chart paper or graphs. Because the paint stand is broken, one person from the class has to help hold the materials so nothing falls on the group as we sit together in the meeting area. I have been working with this pre-school paint stand for five years and as another school year begins, it is so disappointing that this is all I have for my students.
Please help us purchase a real easel to hold our learning materials. Having the proper equipment will improve the look of our meeting area greatly. Not only will we safely use our new easel, the student will now also be able to utilize the easel as a display tool or teaching aid. I will no longer need a student helper to hold papers and everyone will be able to see the materials from our meeting area.
Please donate to our easel proposal. Help improve the equipment in our classroom buy donating to this simple proposal, an easel does it! One easel will make a huge difference in the lives of my students and will improve my teaching abilities.
