Help me give my students a magnetic easel so that my visual, tactile, and kinesthetic learners may benefit from the use of magnetic math manipulatives.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title I school in the Bronx with a very high ratio of students that live in poverty. These children come from various backgrounds with many different needs. I currently teach math and social studies to the entire fourth-grade student body. Within this student body, there are General Education students, English Language Learners and Student with Disabilities.
Although these students come from varying backgrounds, one thing they have in common is a strong love for learning.
This love of learning will be nurtured so that they may have every opportunity to become successful, life-long learners.
My Project
By providing students with access to a magnetic easel, all children will have the opportunity to have a clear visual of the math topics presented in a fun and engaging way.
A new easel would also provide an intimate educational setting at the meeting area.
In addition, it will provide a place for my students to create helpful charts they can refer back to and reinforce their learning. Many of my students are visual learners and would greatly benefit from having a place to view important information. Having a place in the classroom they can refer to for the most recent lesson's learning points, would support their needs.
