This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am teaching students with autism in the Bronx. They do not have hands on activity kits to explore environmental Science or Space in Science lessons. Our school's current theme is Earth and Space, so I was so excited to hear about this opportunity to bring the materials to my class.

My students are autistic and their abilities vary from early learners to grade level learners.

They are eager to learn and they need to be challenged just as typically developing children in general education setting do. My students can learn and need continuous support to apply their knowledge in various settings. This is why they need these kits. They need to touch, see, feel, and smell so they can retain the concept they learn.

My Project

My students will work in groups of 3 and will work together for about two weeks. Then they will present their work on the display board. They will use my laptop and PC to write and edit their work and print their power points and display their work. I will work as a facilitator and they will work mostly independently.

If you donate these wonderful science kits to my students, it will help them enormously to understand hard concept of ecosystem, solar system and life cycle of organisms by doing hands on activities.

Most of them are visual learners so they will retain the learned concept and hopefully apply their knowledge in various settings.
