Earth Day Posters: Help Us Be Creative!

My students need colored posters, masking tape and assorted markers to create information booths at our Earth Day Fair.

My Students

I teach at a specialized math and science high school in New York City. Students must take an entrance exam even though it is a public school. The students of my school are so inquisitive, and have such a drive to learn. This is evident when looking at their full schedules and packed after school activities. These are some of the best and brightest students in all of New York City, and they make going to work every day a JOY!

My Project

We are hoping with the Annual Earth Day Fair to inspire some of our students to think about what they can do to protect the planet, to consider the possibility of working towards a career in the environmental fields or at the very least to create a desire to make changes at home that will protect our planet. In order to do this, we need these colored foamboard and tape as well as markers, so we can create informational booths that the students will want to see and read. At the Earth Day Fair, we plan to have carnival-like booths set up around the cafeteria presenting topics ranging from Climate Change and Renewable Energy Sources to Urban Development and Green Architecture, as well as games that the students can play to win prizes. The more there is to see and learn about, the more students we are likely to inspire to help!

I know it doesn't seem like much, just some simple art supplies, but in the hands of my students and their imaginations, we will create presentations on topics of the greatest importance.

We hope they will have a lasting effect on their viewers, an impact that will be seen in their actions long after they leave the Fair.
