This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The thing I love about my students is how excited they get about those hands-on learning experiences. I can see how much those types of lessons resonate with them.

One thing I want to incorporate into my classroom is more science-based, STEM lessons, which is why I think these oil spill materials would be a great addition to my classroom.

This would be a perfect time to incorporate during the week of Earth day and I know the students will enjoy working through the challenge. The students will see the effects oil can have on feathers and how difficult it can be to clean up such a spill. I hope to really open up students' eyes about how important it is to take care of our earth and I know this hands-on experience is something they will enjoy.
