My students need a listening center that will allow them to hear texts and stories read aloud every day during small group and independent work times.

My Students
My first grade students come from a tight-knit, low-income community in the city of Chicago. They are excited to be starting first grade and to receive letter grades for the first time this year.
Each of my students is uniquely talented, and I can't wait to watch them thrive this year.
First grade establishes a strong foundation for students in school, both academically and socially. This group is focused on building a supportive classroom community and working together to help one another succeed.
My Project
Between the fall and spring, first grade students make incredible leaps in their reading development, and the more exposure they have to books, stories, and texts, the more they can grow. My students love stories, and this technology allows them to read even more in class during independent work time.
This class Listening Center will help every student explore more literature on a daily basis, propelling them forward!
The USB/CD/cassette features ensure that we can use a variety of media in this Listening Center as we build our collection of audio books. The two extra pairs of headphones will let up to eight students listen comfortably at a time.
Every day first graders will use this technology to listen to new books, discover different characters, and develop their skills as readers.
