In my high school construction and carpentry class, students work hard to master skills aligned with the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) certification. To keep them motivated, I’ve created the “Earn Your Edge” program, where students earn real, professional-grade tools every time they pass their module tests on the first attempt. These tools become part of their personal tool kits and help them build confidence and career readiness.
This project supports the final tools and materials needed to complete their ultimate challenge: laying out and cutting a stair stringer from scratch—a complex, real-world task that brings all their skills together.
