it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our first-grade classroom, students not only learn to read and count but also develop crucial life skills through our classroom economy. That's where Marshie, our beloved Marshtomp Sitting Cuties Plush, plays an important role. While students see Marshie as a fun plushie, he’s so much more—an emotional support friend, a reading buddy, and someone they can count with.
Now, my students will have the opportunity to earn their very own Marshie by participating in our class economy.
As they engage in lessons, demonstrate positive behavior, and learn financial literacy concepts like saving and budgeting, they will earn “Marshie Dollars” that can be spent to bring Marshie home. This approach not only builds emotional well-being but also introduces my first graders to essential money management skills in a fun and rewarding way.
The Marshtomp Sitting Cuties Plush is a charming way to teach my first graders the value of saving and making responsible choices while providing emotional support. Through our classroom economy, students will not only earn Marshie but also develop empathy, patience, and financial literacy in a way that's both engaging and developmentally appropriate for first grade.
