Early Morning Artists

My students need art supplies for community service projects and for art lessons.

My Students

Art Club is a before school program that offers 3-8th grade art students a chance to work on small-group projects that are not possible in a larger class setting. They will also be creating art for the school and the community through service projects.

With a focus on literature and writing, our school prepares them for high school, and eventually college acceptance.

The arts enhance classroom learning, as the students complete hands-on projects that draw from history, geography, math and science. Students learn about famous artists, and experiment to discover their own artistic outlets. We hope to offer the students in Art Club opportunities not possible during the busy school day.

My Project

I was so excited to see that 45 children signed up for my 7:45 AM art club this year. It is inspiring to see students so eager that waking up an hour early is worth it! These students will hopefully be able to do some printing, crafting, sculpting and painting that would not be possible to plan during the school day.

They also do projects for the school, like painting a "free book box" for the playground, creating holiday decoration for an event for underprivileged children, and contributing to our school's annual auction.

I have requested paint, paper, and general supplies that will help us complete our projects. These projects are not only fun, but raise funds for the school, encourage kids to read, and help others in need! What bigger difference can we make in our students' learning than to instill a sense of community giving in our students. Projects including wire sculpture, plaster sculpture, quilling and other projects will also be made possible with the requested resources.

We have split the group into 2 sessions so that we can have smaller groups and try some more extensive art projects. These materials will be used by these excited early morning artists! Help them if you can.
