My Students
My school is a Title 1 school, with the majority of my students living in poverty. My students are loving and hardworking, yet unfortunately they face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. I'm inspired by my students as they show great perseverance no matter the challenges they face! Therefore I want to provide my students with creative math centers that make learning fun.
Many of my students have never been to a structured environment setting before, so I'm excited to provide them with the most fun and engaging learning environment that I can.
My students enjoy cooperative centers in which they are able to build and interact with materials in a hands-on way. These activites will enrich the learning of my students all year long and beyond.
My Project
The items I am requesting are fantastic instant math center activities that will let my students interact with the skills they are acquiring in a hands-on and developmentally appropriate way. These materials will provide activities to use throughout the entire year during centers.
I want to foster a love of learning in each one of my students so they truly enjoy coming to school.
I know having my students participate in these cooperative, hands-on math centers will do exactly that. During center time, my students are given an opportunity to explore different materials that interest them based on what we are learning. In Kindergarten we learn a wide range of math skills- from shapes and counting to addition and subtraction. These centers include step-by-step picture instructions and hands-on activities that will make independent math centers engaging yet rigorous. This project will give my students access to learning materials that they cannot have access to anywhere else.
