Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a public school system where I teach deaf and hard-of-hearing children. More than half of my students come from economically disadvantaged families. My students are eager to learn, but the obstacles presented by their hearing loss often frustrate them, for this reason, I love to involve their families as much as possible. Help me give my students a head start in the love of literacy. I want to provide each student with a book and manipulatives to be able to take home.

Books are instrumental in capturing the hearts of my students.

Not only will these books be a source of bonding for the families but also serve as making an impact on their children's reading and language achievements. Children possess an innate curiosity, and when they are immersed in stimulating literature, they develop a lifelong love for reading. The big books reach readers by creating larger than life stories which my students love. Let's work together to instill a passion for reading in every child.
