This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher serving a low income area, there are specific challenges that my students face both in and out of the classroom. These eager and excited young students come to school every day ready to learn and happy to explore. Unfortunately, situations beyond their control threaten their success on a daily basis.

Many of my students have a difficult time securing the basic supplies they'll need for daily use.

For this reason, my projects on DonorsChoose are of vital importance to my students. I believe that it is my duty to provide these exceptional young thinkers the best opportunities that I possibly can. My diverse group of dedicated and inquisitive students will get the chance they deserve with the help of these resources.

My Project

In my classroom, I try to engage my students in learning through a variety of mediums. In centers, the young scholars in my room get to engage in math activities through fun, hands on games, one on one instruction and through fun math games on the computer. There are many online resources for this but the sounds cause a constant distraction for the rest of the students in the room. The traditional solution is to ask students to turn the sound off, but this really cuts down on the fun for them.

A class set of headphones will allow me to provide fun and interesting ways to engage in math skills practice without distracting the rest of the room.

In order to use these computers, my students also need an extra charger. Due to ware and tear throughout the school year, we've lost a charger and could use a replacement.
