My Project
Our school is a Title I and PBIS school with strands of monolingual and dual language classrooms. In third grade, my dual language students spend 60% of their day learning in Spanish and 40% learning in English. My students span a wide range of levels in terms of academics in both languages. All of them come to school each day ready to learn and grow.
My students are working hard to grow as a classroom community of bilingual, bi-literate individuals, and these resources will help them accomplish that goal.
The Spanish graphic novels I selected for this project will be an important resource in our dual language classroom. Whether we are reading these texts together as a class or students are reading independently during our literacy block, my students are always excited to read new graphic novels. These books will engage some of my students who are more reluctant to read in Spanish.
The Spanish Mad Libs, centers, and vocabulary photo library will all support my students in further developing their Spanish vocabulary and literacy skills both in small groups and independently.
