Help me give my students National Geographic Explorer magazines for engaging and differentiated nonfiction content!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Reese's classroom raised $240
This project is fully funded
My Students
Our school is a Title I school, located in a small, rural county. Our classrooms are filled with a diverse makeup of students that include English Language Learners, students with disabilities, and gifted students.
Our students are very eager to learn, and they come to school excited for a new day.
Most of our students come from low-income households where there are limited budgets for school materials and supplies; however, their families are very supportive and very involved our school community!
My Project
It is so important for students to understand nonfiction text. This is often a difficult genre for students to comprehend because often they do not find the content of interest.
National Geographic Explorer magazine is an engaging, differentiated, nonfiction reading resource that inspires students through storytelling, exploration, and photography.
Explorer magazine is available in different Lexile level editions. All students will be able to read about the same topic, so the edition they are given will be at their instructional Lexile level! The high interest articles will also allow for cross-curricular instruction by bringing science and social studies topics into reading.
I am requesting a subscription to Explorer magazine to not only help capture my students interest in nonfiction, but also in discovering more about the world around them!
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
