My Students
Encourage our readers! They are so ready to go, but statistics show that readers are more eager to read when they have a special place to do it. Sitting at your seat is not exciting. Sitting in a cozy spot will make reading so much more enjoyable!
My students come from a very impoverished area.
Parents are working hard and cannot provide extras for school. Most students have their school supplies provided through teacher fundraising. I create everything I can from leftovers and things I take from home to school but we just don't have the resources we need for extras like bean bags. I would love to purchase them myself, but I am not able to.
My Project
Our school uses an awesome management system, Daily 5. In Daily 5, students are sent out to various centers. Two of the centers include Read to Self and Read To Someone. These two centers would be so much more enjoyable for students who are able to sit comfortably for an extended period of time and read to their little heart's content. Statistics show that young children MUST be out of their seats often to keep them engaged. One bean bag per student would help immensely!
Supporting this project could further encourage young readers.
This is huge! They need all the support they can get. Students will beg to read just so they can sit in the awesome bean bags! Please help us create LIFELONG READERS!
