Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My number one goal as a teacher is to inspire my students to love reading and learning. I teach 3rd grade at a charter school serving high-need, diverse students, many of whom have traumatic pasts. I teach at a charter school with a focus on character development.

My students already enjoy getting into the "Reading Zone" each and every day. Now I want to teach them to be strategic readers who think about and discuss books in small groups. Unfortunately, my school is new and we have limited resources for this kind of project.

In order to facilitate this next step in my instruction, I need multiple copies of books for students to read in small groups. Students will benefit from the experience of reading and discussing literature that is at their reading level in small guided reading groups.

I am positive that your help will further increase my students' enjoyment of books and help them develop the skills and strategies they need to become lifelong readers and learners.
