Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My 2nd-grade terrific Torchlighters fly into our school every day eager to start our day and find out what we get to explore next. I love having the opportunity to greet them at our door every day.
I have the opportunity to work with students in the Gifted and Talented program that crave challenges and new experiences.
I look forward to these materials bringing many more light bulb moments to our class and seeing their faces elated from learning. They enjoy being exposed to unique, challenging and targeted learning experiences.
My Project
The supplies in this project will make a huge impact in turning our scholars' dreams into a reality in our classroom. They are already passionate about so many different careers, and adding these financial literacy materials will prepare them for the future. Financial literacy is an essential skill for any entrepreneurs to be successful and our scholars deserve exposure to learning opportunities to grow these skills.
Students will gain an understanding of empathy and how to be responsible with money.
Also, the books we are requesting will be used as an incentive for the classroom economy launch. Junie B. Jones series has stories students can learn from on how to successfully run a business and learn from challenging situations. The Lemonade War Series adds to the narrative of how to run a small business and grow to franchises.
Set the stage to engage!
The buzzers will be used to engage students during mini-lessons on financial literacy skills. The Wild Card book gives ideas on how to enrich lessons and engage students to maximize the learning environment.
The pencils, pens, and erasers will be used for shopkeepers to handle transactions with their "customers". The stools will help students set up their businesses to enhance the customers shopping experience. Students want to have the experience of creating a shop like an environment for their customers to encourage them to shop around longer! We look forward to seeing our classroom buzzing with businesses soon!
