My students need supplies and materials to complete projects throughout the year such as erasers, correction fluid,, hole punches, staplers, and index tabs for notebooks.
Have you been excited to do a school project, then found you had nothing to even start with? It is like trying to go camping without a tent, sleeping bag, or food. These students need to create projects, but lack the basic materials to develop them such as index tabs, hole punches, white out, or glue!
We are an under served inner city school with lots of needs and very little materials useful for classes.
Almost completely African American, they are often overlooked when it comes to funding necessities. We want to stand out in the crowd in a good way! Having these basic supplies will help us to do just that!
We just added two middle school grades, so supplies are even more limited. I don't even have a teacher desk! We don't have enough student desks so several work on the floor and having to create projects like these require a certain amount of necessary materials. The building belongs on the Registrar of Historic places, so you can imagine the physical needs we have! Yet our students are excited about learning and want to see their hard work meet the standards of suburban schools!
My Project
I get really excited when I think of what it would be like to have these materials accessible to our students! No more trying to make holes in copy paper with pencils! How exciting is that! We have to create reports and include charts and graphs and with these materials we can make that happen. Projects are easier to create when the proper supplies are available and more time can be spent on research rather than trying to come up with the personal funds for each child to complete their project. Science fair projects, social studies research and even basic term papers will all be able to get finished because we have the necessary materials. How thrilling this will be! Woo hoo!
Your donation will make their lives so much easier!
We have had to collect bottles and cans to try to get some of these materials in the past. Having your donation help us reach this goal will enable students to present at their science fair and have a chance of competing with those who have had materials available to them. Your donation levels the playing field for students whose extreme economic hardship often leaves them hungry and homeless, and unable to buy supplies. Thank you for helping!
