Each Book, A World of Possibilities..

Help me give my students rich literature for our classroom library that will serve as read alouds and models for mentor sentences. These texts help students with understanding cross curriculum concepts in science & social studies and SEL.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Students love coming to the rug for read aloud time in our classroom. Their eyes widen and ears are open to the rich text about to be shared.

The power of a read aloud enhances student vocabulary, builds a stronger classroom community, creates connections in cross curricular subjects, and motivates students to read!

Words hold power & read alouds serve as models of rich language for scholars. Our classroom is in need of books that can be used as examples for mentor sentences and word study. I love when my students learn a new word in context and then incorporate it in their daily language.

Shared story time also serves as a means to build a stronger classroom community. During read alouds, students have the opportunity to see themselves in the story & it helps students foster connection and belonging - with self, others & the world!

Building our classroom read aloud library helps to improve learning in areas like science, social studies, & social emotional learning! My goal is to provide my students with books like “Malala” that tell the story of the youngest Nobel Peace Prize laureate. “The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind” is a great example of youth being a problem solver and using science to create hope for themselves and their community. A student reading “The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes” will have the opportunity to learn about having a growth mindset and viewing mistakes as learning blocks.

Read alouds make reading time enjoyable and students are more apt to read texts again when they are making connections. Interesting books can spark students passion to become lifelong readers.

Each book in this requested library will offer a world of possibilities - from improved vocabulary to a love of reading!
