This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We aim to build a strong E-Sports Team that provides opportunities and incentives to students who participate. This program will build on students’ natural creativity to code, design, and play in the gaming arena of the virtual gaming world. A robust E-Sports team will provide opportunities for earning scholarships for college, gaining STEM knowledge, and gaming experience, and learning about potential career paths while providing a positive outlet for energy and creativity.

Obstacles we face are a lack of gaming equipment, outdated equipment, limited gaming resources, and no gamer accessories.

To successfully accomplish this objective, we need your help in breaking down these obstacles in order to have a robust E-Sports program at W.A. TODD Middle School. A good solid E-Sports team will foster inclusion for those who do not participate in traditional extracurricular programs. E-Sports promotes teamwork, and allows students to practice strategic and critical thinking skills. E-Sports allows students the opportunity to think about how to build and code their own games. Many studies have shown that a strong E-Sports program allows students to excel in their sport and receive recognition and in turn they will perform better overall in school.

What we need and are requesting is a Nintendo Switch and a PS5 gaming system. This equipment will allow students to continue with tournament play and expand their individual and team skills.
