My Students

My students are an amazing group of 5th graders. I have been impressed by how much they have grown as readers this year. Many of them are starting to love reading for the very first time and it is so exciting to see them take off as wild readers.

My goal is to provide engaging literature and make my class a place where reading is fun and meaningful.

I want all of my 5th graders to fall in love with reading no matter where they currently are in their reading journey. Reading is for everybody! Sometimes it just takes a little help to find the book or series that unlocks the reader in all of us.

My Project

My students really enjoyed our first unit of book clubs. They grew so much as readers as well as critical thinkers. I was so impressed by how the depth of their discussions developed over the unit.

Now I want to bring that same excitement and energy to our second unit of book clubs with dystopian literature.

I know from experience that these books are sure to grab their attention and get even the most reluctant reader excited about book clubs! I can't wait to witness how these books bring them all closer to becoming wild readers.
