My Students
The students I provide speech and language services are from a diverse population of varying socio-economic backgrounds on Staten Island. The students are working to better their speech, language, phonemic awareness, and overall communication skills so that they can improve their academic performance and interactions with peers and adults. My students' grade levels can range from pre-k through 5th grade. Many of my students require one on one and small group instruction to help them reach their goals. My students may have difficulty attending to tasks, processing language, or have sensory needs.
My Project
The students I work with presently, have expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language deficits, auditory processing difficulties, articulation, and phonological processing disorders, and delays in phonemic awareness skills that impact their academic performance. Having access to digital materials through a variety of platforms will assist me in providing speech and language teletherapy to my students to improve their communication skills and improve their academic performance.
These students will be able to achieve their speech and language goals through a variety of digital platforms that will engage them in fun and interactive learning.
My students learn best when they are engaged in multi-sensory activities. Remote learning requires the use of digital materials that will allow them to have multisensory experiences.
The platforms I have selected were used with my students during the remote learning period during the COVID-19 pandemic. These platforms proved to be highly effective in the presentation and practice of skills. For me to continue having access to these valued resources, I will need to renew my memberships to the platforms.
