Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
What I love about my students is their ability to be resilient despite the struggles and obstacles in their lives. Most of our students are scarce of life's essentials, and I love that they can come to our school and be loved, accepted and safe. I love that I can sow love, acceptance and safety one student at a time. Because our students live in an underprivileged community, each of the resources that I chose will help them learn or enhance their soft and social skills. These practical yet invaluable tools will help me serve each student better and will allow me to focus more on connecting with my student rather than scrambling to find resources/games, etc.
The specific items that I am requesting will transform my 1:1 and small group counseling sessions with my students.
The rainbow liquid sensory viewers will capture the attention of my students with a diagnosis of ADD or ADHD; the calming strips will allow my students to have moments of re-centering their mind in the classroom or in the counseling office; the rainbow pompoms will allow my students to have sensory stimulation while expressing emotions, concerns, etc.; the social games will improve my rapport with our students and will also support social and soft skills; snacks serve for those students who need a little extra sweet and mints serve to cool and relax the mind; and lastly, I would be so grateful if I was to get the Lakeshore soft seats, I have a "Peace Rug" but the soft seats would serve as our "Hope" seats if I had them. 6 seats, 6 different hopeful students.
My goal for this project is for students to experience counseling in a more creative way, they deserve it all! Thank you so much!
