My Students

We are a close-knit, culturally-diverse, community school with just over 300 students, grades K-5. Many of our students come from a lower socioeconomic background.

I have the privilege of working with a remarkable group of learners.

These 5th graders are inquisitive, enthusiastic, and excited to learn about the world around them. All of my students bring a unique perspective to our classroom community, and are encouraged to learn new things and to take on new challenges.

My goal as a teacher is to create a safe, positive, student-centered learning environment for ALL that enter my classroom. My students have a wide range of academic abilities and learning styles, and I strive to provide them with meaningful learning experiences each and every day

My Project

As we jump into the new school year with distance learning, it is certain to be an adventure unlike like any other. . . As a 5th grade classroom teacher, I teach using models, diagrams, pictures, words, and equations daily. I want to be able to create asynchronous instructional videos for my students and familes that allow me to DEMONSTRATE the learning concepts we are exploring in our classroom. A writing tablet would help me do exactly that!

A writing tablet, with a stylus that links to my computer, would be helpful in supporting my 5th grade students and familes at home, during our distance learning.

Preparing lessons and teaching materials on my laptop is quite challenging... You quickly run into the limitations that come with the use of a mouse and keyboard. Mathematical formulas, explanatory sketches, and descriptive blackboard pictures are easier to draw with a digital pen. Such a tool will also make my lessons and instructional videos more engaging and interactive for my students.
