My Students

I teach at a great rural school near the coast of South Carolina. Our school houses Pre-K through fifth grade with a student population of about 800 students. Although our elementary school is one of the biggest in our district, we have a family feeling to it that visitors notice when they walk through the front doors. We have a total of six kindergarten classes. With a school this big, our population is extremely diverse. We have very low economic families in our community, but these children are always eager to learn and ready to overcome obstacles. I want to help my students who are just beginning their school careers go even further and really push themselves. Your donations will make that dream possible for my classroom.

My Project

Having a digital camera in our classroom will allow my students to take photographs of the activities we do throughout the school year such as our STEM projects and science activities. These photographs can then be put into Microsoft Word documents for the students to write about which incorporates even more technology into their daily educational experience. The photographs will allow the students to vividly recount the experience and write exciting and innovative stories. This will help to improve their writing skills, as well. These pictures will also be great to share with parents and family thorough our classroom website.

Technology is a wonderful asset to a child's education.

This project will be very rewarding and educational for my students. My students will learn about the use of technology, and they will also be able to improve their writing skills. Many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school and being able to use it here at school will better prepare them for their future.
