it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Hello we are a fabulous bunch of kindergarteners in a high poverty school in a large urban area of Northern California. We may be high in poverty as a school but we are high in intelligence and we need supplies like everyone else. We are the cutest kindergartens in the West!!
The school is nestled in a part of the large urban city forgotten by many politicians, but not the teachers who work there.
The students, many of them come from such extreme sad conditions it is enough to break hearts, they are the most bright amazing humans. As promised by many politicians, school officials, the high poverty schools would not be forgotten, but sadly this is not the case. As a teacher who has been at this school for 15 years, I have seen so much broken promises. These students have seen too much for such a young age. Our school has no PTA, hardly any parent involvement. So, I am asking for your help today no matter how small.
My Project
I am asking today for a portable DVD player. Many classrooms have one TV for several rooms (a TV from the 80's with a VCR component). I have so many amazing DVDs to show them this year. When learning science it is so exciting to actually see movies or videos on the subject. This DVD player will be enough for the class to watch, science videos, phonic language videos, and small enough for small group instruction.
