Help me give my students durability as they use items in the school library. All grades, kindergarten to fifth, have the ability to have a hands-on experiences at the table with the laminator in the school library.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My campus is committed to collaboratively, providing purposeful opportunities for the education of the “whole” child, by motivating and developing critical thinkers who achieve at their full potential, while becoming college and career ready. The school has been an educational landmark in the southeast residential community for over ninety years. The school’s philosophy is based on the belief that all children should be provided an educational environment where students can work, play and learn in situations that are stimulating and governed by true-life experiences. My campus is a school-wide, Title I campus, which serves approximately 580 students in grades Pre-kindergarten to Fifth grade. Of that, 97.8% are Hispanic, 1.4% are Anglo-American, 0.3% are African American, and 1% other. The student population represents a lower socioeconomic level of 100% who qualify for free breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My Project
Serving as the school librarian, I see all students daily, and with this laminator and laminating sheets, I will be able to make the lessons more durable and more engaging for my students as they will become hands-on centers at each table. This will also improve the engagement in the lessons, as several students will have the ability to interact with the reading lessons! Every student that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of my lessons have been chosen with my students in mind. Students will be able to have protected, durable hands on, experiences which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
