This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are kindergarteners through 8th graders living in inner-city Phoenix, AZ. These students are from low-income/high-poverty families; many are even homeless or living in shelters near the school.
Our school slogan is "HOPE in the slope!"
They may never own a musical instrument or take private lessons, so I want them to have as many opportunities as possible to play and make music while they're in my classroom!
My Project
Please donate so my students from kinder through 8th grade can have some fun with drums!
Percussion instruments are simple enough for kindergarteners to play, yet fun and exciting for all ages!
They will be thrilled to practice steady beat and rhythms on real drums and give their hands a break from clapping.
My 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will also have a chance to learn some simple (or not) rhythm patterns on the drum kit! I'm sure it will be a big motivator, maybe even the coolest instrument on campus! Learning the snare drum role may even give them a head start toward high school marching band!
