My Students

Shakuntala Devi said " Without mathematics, there's nothing you can do. Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is numbers." This quote has inspired me to provide my students with opportunities to be successful in math. I know that students who don’t have immediate recall of math facts spend much of their time on basic computations instead of learning higher order math skills. This is why I try to provide my students with the foundation they need to achieve their goals.

As an educator, I seek to provide meaningful learning activities to challenge their understanding of the world.

My students come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and the majority of them qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

My Project

I am requesting an electric pencil sharpener and pencils to provide my students with the resources they need to be successful in math class. I find that students who have a sharpened pencil ready to go for class can begin their assignments immediately and focus on learning. The electric pencil sharpener has a blue light that lights up when the pencil is sharpened so my students can sharpen their pencils quickly and easily. My students will be excited to learn because they have the necessary tools they need to be successful lifelong learners. Fluency in math facts will help my students gain confidence in math and excel in other areas of math.
