This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th-grade students are in a dual-language program in which they learn to love learning math and science in both English and Spanish. Despite the challenges they face being so close to the border, they are always eager to begin a new school year ready for a new way of expressing their thoughts and ideas in two languages.

My 5th-grade students listen, speak, read and write math and science language to communicate the enjoyment and fun of learning.

My Project

These headphones will give each and every one of my students the ability to individually listen to the beauty of both languages. They usually take turns with the few headphones we have in the classroom.

The headphones will be used in the listening station as listening is an essential component of learning any second language and of listening, in general, to work together as a class and as a school.

The headphones will also be used with the iPADS. The students are required to listen to an interactive app that helps them apply their listening, reading and writing skills to solve real-life problems in math and science.

My students will have more opportunities to practice and improve on their dual listening skills learning the beauty of knowing how to listen, speak, read and write two languages.
