This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach a Dual Language 1st-grade class in Providence, RI. My students love and enthusiasm for learning is contagious! They love coming to school and work hard to do their best every day! They inspire us to do the best we can to support their learning and growth.
We only need two more of these storage units to ensure each of my dual language students have their own space!
Getting two more units with trays will provide all 52 of my students with an organized place to keep their books and materials to make learning and independent working time more productive.
Dual language means dual students and dual materials. I already utilize these mobile storage units in the class I see in the morning. They keep us so organized and independent that I would love to get two more for the class I see in the afternoon.
Students can keep their books, reading logs, writing tools, materials, and assignments right in their own tray. Students take their trays and keep them at their seats during class. Having what they need at hand really helps them work more independently. When class is finished students return the trays to the mobile storage unit.
Learning time in the classroom is maximized if students have easy access to the tools they need. At this moment, students in the afternoon class are spending more time collecting tools, books, and materials before starting their independent work. Time would be spent more efficiently if they had everything they needed in their own bin from the mobile storage unit.
