As we complete the DOE Units of Study, our students engage in a Light Unit where they study everything about light - from the contrast with darkness to the study of shadows to the way light moves, reflects, and even how it helps with our vision (which ties in our unit on the Five Senses). To have these light tables would fully allow for our students to engage in STEM-related activities related to light so they can actually see hands-on how light works. This is especially helpful for our ELL students as well as our students with special needs. Furthermore, this is for our dual language population which is learning science (and all other subjects) in both Spanish and English. What better way to enhance their language learning than through tactile and visual measures as they become biliterate and bilingual! We know it is an expense but we would love to make this happen for our kids this year! We would truly appreciate it!
