My Students
How would a typical day in my Photography classroom be described? Students would say it is exciting! They enter class every day eager to experience each and every assignment. With digital images in hand they are ready to edit and process that final photographic representation of their artistic idea.
From photography and graphic design to stained glass and AP portfolios, we offer it all.
Our students are not only challenged artistically but also academically in the development of creative and critical thinking skills, crucial for success in the 21st century. It is our goal as a Visual Art Department to stay abreast of our ever-changing industry to bring creative and relevant learning experiences to our talented students. These unique experiences allow our students to leave high school college and career ready.
My Project
Due to growing class sizes and more interest in studying Photography my students need additional cameras! This additional equipment will allow more students to fully understand digital photography and all its creative nuances. These creative, talented and motivated students deserve the opportunity to explore lighting and exposure and understand the various functions and settings on modern Digital SLR cameras. These cameras will allow them the chance to put down their iPads and cell phones and to experience all aspects of photography through an actual camera.
Additional cameras will allow students the time to complete larger more advanced assignments. Right now my students are working in large groups (often five or more) to study the DSLR camera, aperture, ISO and shutter speed. They are doing great work and love working together but how great would it be to one day have a camera for each student to use and explore with each class period?
The funding of this project will offer our photography students the opportunity to experience taking photographs and experimenting with photography on an entirely new level, using Digital SLR cameras.
