My Students

Due to budget cuts and a need to go green we are using as little paper as possible. My students do a lot of their work on dry erase worksheets but we sometimes forget to put the caps on and our markers dry out. We need more!

I work at an urban, inner-city school with a diverse low-income student body.

My twenty Kindergarteners represent many different cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds but they are all excited, wiggly 5 and 6 year olds who love to use their teacher's dry erase markers.

My Project

I use dry erase markers a lot in my classroom for two main reasons. #1: They save paper. I can use the same worksheets over and over again if I just put them in a plastic sleeve. #2: My students are so excited by the idea of using "the teachers markers" that they will do almost any worksheet or activity without complaint. And motivated students learn, a lot.

In Kindergarten my students are learning foundational skills and the more they are able to practice those skills the more successful they will be in school and in life.

Dry erase markers are a simple way to help because they provide instant motivation and encourage regular practice and repetition of essential knowledge without wasting paper.
