This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are an amazing group of second and third graders who attend a Title I school in Los Angeles, California. Eighty-four percent of the students qualify for free school lunch. Most come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Some are English language learners and a few have special needs.
Whiteboards allow students to record and share their thinking and I can quickly check their understanding.
My students use individual whiteboards daily so I can check their understanding of math concepts and skills such as place value, subtraction with regrouping, multiplication, division, and area. The whiteboards keep them active, engaged, and having fun while learning. Even the students who are hesitant participate. Our supply of dry erase markers have diminished and I would like to replenish our stock for the remainder of the school year. The students use them often so they dry out quite quickly.
