Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As a 6th grade math teacher, finding new ways to motivate my students can be challenging. Students enjoy using technology and hands on practice to review skills based on the Common Core State Standards. One of my goals this year is to have my students become more math proficient through concrete activities with everyday skills.
My school is in an urban setting where a large number of students have diverse needs.
Because of this, I find that grabbing their interest and meeting their individual needs is best done through hands on learning. They look forward to any opportunity to use dry erase boards and markers. When my students are engaged they become more excited, inventive, and enthusiastic about the tasks at hand. Differentiated lessons allow my students to use their skills to assist classmates who might be struggling.
My Project
Dry erase boards will make learning fun for my students and allow me to quickly assess which students have grasped the math concept and which ones need more practice. Before, during, and after each math lesson, students will be presented with math problems to check for understanding. Providing my students with dry erase boards and markers helps develop speed and accuracy in solving mathematical problems.
By donating to this project you will ensure my students' active engagement in every math lesson.
The dry erase boards and markers you provide will be used for whole group instruction, small groups, and math centers.
