My Students
My diverse twenty-eight first graders are the most eager learners I have ever met. These six- and seven-year-olds come to school every day with a desire to learn despite the many obstacles they face. For one, our school is over a hundred years old, so the building we work in has many issues. Our school is in a high-poverty district with little support for technology, books, and necessary classroom supplies.
No matter what, my students are hardworking and dedicated, and they strive to be excellent model citizens.
It is because of these extraordinary students that I work as hard as I do to provide them with the best opportunities. They deserve it!
My Project
In my classroom, we have been using the same supplies for almost a decade. Our current dry erase boards are old and beaten up. My students use their dry erase boards daily and would really benefit from a fresh set that doesn't have scratches, dents, and permanent markers on them.
Furthermore, the dry erase boards help me gauge where my students are with regard to particular skills and standards.
By showing their work on the dry erase boards I can see my students thinking written out and determine what the next steps are to help them.
