This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach third grade in a Title One school in Long Island City, New York. My students come from a very low income area and most live in public housing. Many live in shelters as well. Many of my students come from poverty. All the students receive free breakfast and lunch. My school is a community school, so we help meet many of the families needs. We have provided a dentist, mental health counseling, and even a food pantry.
Despite the challenges that my students face, they are positive, motivated, kind, and fun loving.
They love to learn and appreciate the little things. They love to read and they love to learn using technology.
My students come into class everyday with smiles on their faces and always willing to lend a hand. They are kind to each other and to anyone they meet. My hope is to give them everything they need to help them learn and keep those faces smiling!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in the students learning! With the dry erase boards, they will be able work in groups or partnerships on math activities. They will be able to interactively participate in whole class lessons as well. They are also great to use in order to quickly assess their math skills on a daily basis. The students will be able to make mistakes and quick fix them without a pencil erasing mess.
These materials will make math more fun and exciting for the students!
The dry erase boards will make a great addition to the everyday learning that my students look forward to.
