My students need new dry erase markers to keep up our class participation technique- using dry erase boards as an informal assessment, gauging student understanding.

My Students
Remember when you were in school and would wait anxiously for another student to ask a question because you didn't understand? The same thing used to happen in my classroom, but it is much less common now since we use dry erase boards throughout class, allowing every student to answer at once.
My students, like most urban schools, vary in their willingness to participate in class.
For as much as they like to talk, rap, sing, or dance while I'm trying to teach, they are equally as timid when it comes to participating. Of course, I also have a few students who would answer every question if I let them. Luckily, my students and I have found a compromise using dry erase boards.
My Project
I am requesting new dry erase markers, to replace the ones that have been quickly drying out on us. Not having any markers prevents us from using our dry erase boards, and causes some of my students to lose interest in answering questions. This is an especially effective method for some of my special education students, who often clamor for boards and markers, but who pretty much refuse to ask, or answer, any questions in class by raising their hand. Essentially, these markers are their way of communicating in my classroom comfortably.
Your donation will help some of my most unwilling students participate in class, with little concern for what their classmates will think.
The dry erase board method allows all of my students to be on the same level, and forces the class to provide time for each student to answer. My students will be excited to see a new contribution to their favorite informal assessment.
