My Students

My students are full of energy and love music! I teach elementary music at two Title One schools in Michigan, where one hundred percent of students receive free breakfast and lunch. I teach over seven hundred students per week in grades K-5.

My music classroom is a safe place where my students get the opportunity to be creative and express themselves.

I feel strongly that my students should have access to high-quality music education, despite the various challenges and hardships they face in their day-to-day life. For our students living in poverty and from broken homes, the arts can play a vital role in their self-expression, brain development, and motor skills.

My students love to play instruments but many of the instruments and resources we currently have are decades old and falling apart. Please help me give my students the materials and resources they need to have an enriching musical experience. Hundreds of young lives will be impacted by your generous donation! My Project

We love to drum! The sight, the sound, and the feeling are tremendous motivators for students. When played together, drums require students to work together and the payoff is immediate: an energetic, expressive sound.

Through the power of drumming, all students have a musical voice and experience music on a deeper level.

Drums provide unlimited opportunities for experience with rhythm, ensemble playing, movement, improvisation, meter, and timbre. Drumming also provides teachers with the flexibility to assign parts of varying difficulty to players of different abilities. Moreover, the ensembles provide an invaluable social experience because the players depend on each other for the group to succeed. Help us drum up some fun for years to come!
