This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
No song is complete without a good beat and receiving a drum set would make it possible for my students to always have one.
I teach 600 K-8 public school children who live in a high poverty urban community.
They are incredible and curious students who thrive in Music class and constantly impress me with their skill and enthusiasm. They are fortunate enough to attend a school run by a loving administration and staff who value music and creativity and encourage the students to express themselves artistically. Our music program's main limitation is a lack of funding.
My Project
My students love to play instruments together. Sadly, we do not have a drum set and it often feels like something is missing in their performances and concerts. I know that a drum set will enable my students to blossom into drummers and participate in a number of new ensembles. They will learn about working together, musical balance, and how fun it is to drum.
Donations will improve my classroom because my students will gain a new and powerful tool to propel them into lives filled with music.
They will heighten the quality of their existing ensembles and doubtlessly create many more given access to a drum set.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
