My students need 2 replacement drums for the printer in our classroom.

Imagine, if you will, being responsible for the education of 130 eager young minds. Imagine, if you will, needing to make copies of diagrams, handouts, tests, student projects, and reports. Imagine going to your trusty classroom printer, pressing the "print" button, eagerly expecting the machine to begin outputting the necessary materials the eager young minds are craving. Imagine, if you will, the horror of looking down at the silent printer only to see the LCD display, "Printing unavailable. Replace drum to continue printing." Imagine, if you will, the despair that sets in when you realize that you have no replacement drum. I teach 7th grade science in a small rural district in southwest Mississippi. The above scenario is fictional, at the moment of this writing. But it won't be fictional in the near future.

Our trusty classroom printer is approaching the end of its drum's life and we have no replacement on hand. We are an economically disadvantaged district. This situation forces many of our parents to rely on the school to provide supplies to our students. This is something that I gladly do whenever needed and possible. Without a replacement drum for our printer, however, it won't be something that I can do for long.

Science is so much easier for junior high students to understand when they have diagrams to look at, graphs to interpret, and can document the results of their scientific experiments. Being able to provide those materials when needed makes the educational process flow!

In these tough economic times, we're all trying to make the most of what we have. I can make a lot out of the supplies I have available as long as my printer is working. Your generous gift to provide us with a replacement drum keeps our class up and running. Imagine, if you will, the smiles on the faces of my kids when they learn that their science lessons will continue to flow! Thanking you in advance for your consideration of my proposal.
