Drumming to a Great Workout

My students need buckets, yoga balls, and sticks for some drumming, dancing, and more!

My Students

Each year, my music classes join forces with the physical education program for an action-packed, fun-filled dance unit. Students look forward to learning new dances from around the world, collaborating with their peers, and choreographing their own pieces.

Our students understand how dance and exercise go hand in hand with each other.

They know the importance of kinesthetic movement and how with dance, they are developing beat and rhythm competency. Most importantly, they are developing their minds and bodies while having fun.

My Project

Our students love drumming and they love to move, and this project will combine the two. With a class set of yoga balls, plastic tubs to stabilize them, and Lummi sticks, students will have an opportunity to exercise while working on their music and rhythm skills.

With this combined music and physical fitness program, students will benefit in so many ways.

Aside from the great cardiovascular workout, they'll be working on teamwork skills and enhancing their own creativity, all while developing their music skills. With these materials, our students will feel the burn and feel the beat for years to come!
