My students need instruments so they can drum out the dissonance in their lives and continue to grow emotionally and musically in the classroom, on the stage, and beyond.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"I never felt so happy before until you helped me find music, Ms. S. Now, I can't stop. Music is me now, and I love it." - My 6th Grade Student. Your donations will help enrich my students musically and emotionally by giving flight to their fingers and inspiration to their imaginations.
Our school is an inner-city public school in a dangerous, low-income neighborhood so my students love coming to school.
Our school includes many English Language Learners as well as children with diagnosed special needs and provides an enriched, quality education for all children in the surrounding neighborhood. At the end of Band, my students never want to leave and instead want to continue composing and playing music together.
My Project
Last year proved to be a very successful first year for the music program. Teaching my students to compose as well as read music & play instruments prepared them to perform in front of the school, which had a profound, positive impact on their characters. I am requesting a drum set so that my students' musical minds can continue to expand and experience Music in all its forms and styles.
Before this last year, our school had no music program.
Now, the halls are filled with music. The students show up for school more because they are excited for music and band. Their discipline is much improved, as playing an instrument takes much dedication. My students work more cooperatively together and take personal responsibility in a group. Lastly, my students' confidence has bloomed, and they are able to improvise and play proudly for their peers in the classroom, on the stage, & beyond.
