This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are going to be learning how to play in a rock band. The one thing that we are lacking is a complete drum set. The whole idea behind the program is to have students change instruments throughout the learning process. The only instrument we are missing is the drum set.
All my students want to play the drum set first.
I have had to improvise to find ways my students can get the job of playing the drum set by using rhythm sticks/drum sticks on tables and on books so they can at least get an idea of what it would be like.
We would start using the set as soon as it gets here so every one gets a chance to play on it longer. The drummer in the rock band has an important role and must play for the entire song. The more time they have on an instrument, the more comfortable they will be playing it and they will build stamina to play longer. Playing a drum set gives my students a sense of rhythm, coordination, and how important a drummers job is within a rock band.
