My Project
My musicians love to create and perform music, and when students walk into the classroom and see the drums, the excitement is infectious. The halls fill with music, and creativity abounds, but we need some help. Many of the drums we use regularly in the classroom are showing their age, and others have had to be retired. In order for students to learn to play using proper technique and produce a musical sound, new instruments are needed. Larger class sizes have also made it even more difficult to provide each student with a viable instrument.
Donated equipment will serve around 600 students from pre-K through fifth grade and will be shared by two music classrooms.
Additionally, the instruments will be used in our before school enrichment programs including chorus and special programs such as the Black History Performance and Hispanic Heritage Assembly. We are a community school and we strive to engage and involve the public. With the help of our donors we will use these instruments to show off our talents to the public as we welcome them to our school building for assemblies, concerts, and special events. Help us cultivate a generation of music makers by facilitating refurbishment and replacement of our older instruments.
