it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students have been begging to learn how to drum in class. We have not had the resources to buy real drums, so we have been using buckets in class to drum on. The students have been really enjoying this, and I would love to teach my K-3 students how to drum as well. They deserve to have drums that are specifically made for their age group.
During COVID, we were not able to use instruments through distance learning, so I feel like this is a great time to make up for lost instruction on drums.
Drumming will bring confidence to my students and a sense of community while they gather together to make music on highly desired instruments. We will be enforcing rhythm, steady beat, and ostinato patterns as a class. Composing music, performing, and echo songs are just some of the ways we will enjoy our drums. The sky is the limit and we cannot wait to get drumming!
