My Project

I am starting beginning drumming class to encourage students who may have never taken a music class before to try something new so they can experience how to play a steady beat, how to create rhythms, and how to read music, all while participating with a group, learning team building and cooperation skills. They will learn listening skills and how to work together.

When teaching Percussion classes, we have a DRUM code that stands for Discipline, Respect, and Unity, through Music.

Drumming can be a tool that not only teaches students to learn about music and rhythm, but can also be used to foster personal expression, relieve stress and anxiety, encourage team work and build self-respect.

I teach Beginning Percussion students as well as Advanced Percussion students. All percussion classes will work on different levels of drum fundamentals in class. Percussion students will not only be able to use these drum pads as a means to help us work through percussion music at school, but they will also be able to check check them out to practice music at home. These practice pads are quiet enough that students need to learn to listen to each other in a classroom setting, but can also quietly practice at home and not disturb others.
